DENVER — Months of summer-like weather could finally be coming to an end in Colorado.
The 9NEWS Weather Impact team said there is a chance of rain, snow and cooler temperatures in Colorado on Friday and Saturday.
It's still several days out and the forecast could change, but a system could bring rain showers to the Denver metro area and snow to Colorado's mountains, as well as seasonal high temperatures in the 60s on Friday and Saturday.
If the current models hold, the high temperature in Denver on Saturday would be below average, in the middle 50s with scattered showers throughout Saturday. Late rain showers could begin Friday night in Denver.
"As usual, don’t make any big leaps this far out and with this much model disagreement," said 9NEWS Weather Impact team meteorologist Chris Bianchi. "Huge spread in low placement + strength = tons of uncertainty. [Probably] means an occasional wild model run or two, and maybe your apps will go briefly bananas as well."
"Early guess is some mountain snow Friday/Saturday with a quick shot of Denver rain to boot, probably on Saturday," Bianchi said. "Still, enough Euro (and GFS) ensemble members showing some slushy snow as low as the metro area that it’s worth a watch. Early guess is not yet, though."
The system is forecasted to move out of Colorado late Saturday, with sunny skies returning and fall-like high temperatures in the middle to upper 60s, next Sunday and Monday.
