DENVER — Another Wednesday, another snow storm in the Centennial State.
Mother Nature has a thing for Wednesdays as the past three out of four have featured snowfall in the Denver metro area.
This time, the low pressure system will stay well to the south of Colorado, lessening the chance for significant snow in Denver, but we'll see very light snow showers nonetheless.
Clouds continue to increase across the state Wednesday with light snow or snow showers over Colorado's mountains spreading onto the eastern plains as the day goes on.
We're likely looking at a dusting to an inch of snowfall around the Denver metro area with slightly higher amounts around Golden and Boulder. The only concern is the timing as it could slow down the Wednesday evening commute.
Snow continues overnight then gradually decreases later on Thursday as cooler, drier air moves in. Accumulations for the eastern plains should remain relatively light.
Wednesday snow storm
The southwest San Juans will see the heaviest snow as they're under a Winter Storm Warning through Thursday morning for one to two feet of new snow.
A Winter Weather Watch is in effect for the Sangre de Cristos for 3 to 8 inches of new snow by Thursday evening.
And a Winter Weather Advisory for the Grand Mesa, West Elk and Sawatch mountains as well as the Northwest San Juans for 4 to 8 inches of snow.
