Ringing in 2019 across Colorado is going to be a cold one. Below freezing and sub-zero in some parts of the state, actually.
Some areas of the state got a steady stream of snow all day Monday, and that snow isn't going to melt for at least a few days.
The bitter cold will stick around for New Year's Day, with much milder weather by the end of the week as temperatures rise into the 50s.
There was a wide range of snow totals on Monday, with 1 to 3 inches in Northern Colorado down into the northeastern Denver Metro Area, 2 to 4 inches in the central Metro Area and 3 to 6 inches in the southern and western suburbs.
Are you planning on braving the possibly icy and snowy roads? Be extra careful.
9NEWS spoke to Colorado Department of Transportation around 8 p.m., and their traffic operations folks said there weren't trouble spots in the Denver metro area to point out, but said all the roads are bad and encourage drivers to stay off the roads if possible.
CDOT has a plan, though - they have their full fleet of snow plows that are determining the best solutions for the highway.
Nancy Kuhn with Denver Public Works told 9NEWS there is deicer on the streets in the city, but it's not as effective when it's this cold outside. Slick spots are possible, and she urges drivers to be careful on every road.
