Northern lights visible in parts of Colorado

A geomagnetic storm triggered northern lights across a wide stretch of the northern U.S., including Colorado.

DENVER — A powerful geomagnetic storm triggered northern lights across a wide stretch of the United States and Canada, including Colorado, on Sunday and Monday.

9NEWS viewers sent incredible photos of the northern lights, or aurora borealis, that appeared over Conifer, Rocky Mountain National Park, and Colorado Springs.

NOAA predicted a strong geomagnetic storm Sunday into Monday due to the eruption of solar material.

We want to see your photos of the aurora. Two of the easiest ways to share your perspective with 9NEWS are through text messages and the 'Near Me' feature on the 9NEWS app.

As a #9WX contributor, your photos or videos could be shared on our newscasts, website, and social media pages.
