DENVER — If you like classic late-summer weather, you'll love Colorado's Labor Day weekend forecast.

Warm and dry weather is forecasted to continue through the weekend on the eastern Colorado plains, and in the mountains and the Denver metro area.

Only isolated storms across the southern mountains will damper any Labor Day weekend plans in Colorado. Highs in Denver will reach the upper 80s on Friday. The average high temperature is 85 degrees.

Temperatures will rise slightly on Saturday as a ridge of high pressure nears Colorado. Denver could reach 90 degrees on Saturday. If Denver hits 90 degrees, would be the city's 55th day at or above 90 degrees so far this summer, well above the season-to-date average.

Colorado cools down a bit on Sunday with breezy conditions, leading to a possible elevated fire danger on Sunday. Winds relax a bit on Labor Day, with a high around 90 degrees again in Denver.

Denver Labor Day weekend forecast

  • FRIDAY: Mostly sunny and warm, high 87. Partly cloudy overnight, low 58.
  • SATURDAY: Partly cloudy and seasonal, high 90. Partly cloudy overnight, low 57.
  • SUNDAY: Partly cloudy and a tad cooler, high 88. Partly cloudy overnight, low 61.
  • LABOR DAY MONDAY: Partly cloudy and seasonal, high 90. Clearing skies at night, low 59.
  • TUESDAY: Mostly sunny and mild, high 92. A few clouds overnight, low 60.

Colorado will stay warm and dry into next week and the first week of September, with no meaningful Front Range storm chances until at least Wednesday and Thursday of next week.

There's a good chance Denver will finish with its second-hottest summer on record, perhaps just a smidge ahead of 2020. As of Friday morning, Denver is tied with 2020 for the second-hottest summer on record mark.
