When will the true fall weather pattern arrive?

A cold front on Wednesday will give Denver a brief taste of fall, but more 90-degree days are back in the forecast.

DENVER — It was another hot, 90-degree day on the Front Range, and some people are more than ready for cooler weather.

There is a brief cool-down in the forecast for the next few days, but when will fall weather be here to stay? 9NEWS Weather Impact Team meteorologist Cory Reppenhagen has some bad news for the fall weather fans.

After this mid-week cold front, it looks like Colorado is going to hit another unusually warm stretch of weather.

September is normally a month where we would say goodbye to those 90-degree days in Denver. On average, there’s only two 90-degree days in September. There’s already been two this year, and we’re only three days in.

On average, the final 90-degree day in Denver comes on Sep. 5. However, the low-pressure system coming on Wednesday will only impact the area for a few days and then another ridge of high pressure is coming after that. 90-degree high temperatures will be very possible in Denver from Sunday, Sep. 7, all the way to Friday, Sep. 13, we could get multiple 90-degree days.

So, when is the true fall weather pattern going to set in? Astronomical fall is a good bet.

The autumnal equinox is on Sep. 22 this year and historically, it’s only reached 90-degrees 14 times after that date. It’s only hit 90-degrees in October one time in history. So, we’re close, hang in there.
