DENVER — The 11th annual Denver Veterans Day Parade has been canceled.

The Colorado Veterans Project and the City of Denver announced that Saturday's parade has been canceled "due to inclement weather and in consideration of safety for everyone involved."

The 16th annual Denver Veterans Day Run and the Denver Veterans Day Festival were also canceled.

Registered runners have the option to participate in a virtual race, with additional details to be provided by Tuesday, Nov. 12, organizers said.

The Colorado Veterans Project said it will host several local packet pickup events for participants who would like to collect their race bib, medal and T-shirt.

The 9NEWS Weather Impact Team issued a Weather Impact Day through Saturday morning for a significant snowstorm. Winter Storm Watches are up for most of the Denver metro area for the impactful winter weather system.

The storm system headed to Colorado will likely bring six inches or more of snow on Friday and Saturday. The snow is forecast to leave Colorado Saturday morning and dry out and melt out starting on Saturday afternoon.
