How will snow affect Denver Veterans Day Parade?

Organizers of the Denver Veterans Day Parade are monitoring the Colorado snow for Saturday's event. A final decision will be made Friday.

DENVER — The annual Denver Veterans Day Parade is scheduled for Saturday, but Mother Nature could impact the festivities.

Denver's annual Veterans Parade, Festival and Run are set to take place Saturday morning at City Park in Denver.

The 9NEWS Weather Impact Team issued a Weather Impact Day through Saturday morning for a significant snowstorm. Winter Storm Watches are up for most of the Denver metro area for the impactful winter weather system.

The storm system headed to Colorado will likely bring six inches or more of snow on Friday and Saturday. The snow is forecast to leave Colorado Saturday morning and dry out and melt out starting on Saturday afternoon.

"We are currently watching the weather situation," organizers said on the event website. "Colorado weather is unpredictable and currently we are planning to move forward with our scheduled event."

Organizers said any updates or changes to the schedule will be communicated at 2 p.m. on Friday.

Denver Veterans Day Parade

Comprised of local veterans organizations and supporters, the Denver Veterans Day Parade is scheduled to take place at City Park at 9 a.m. Saturday after a run.

The parade will be broken into sections that represent different conflicts in military history, from the Revolutionary War to modern times. Each one will feature military memorabilia, like uniforms, vehicles and weapons, from that era.

Denver Veterans Day Festival

Also on Saturday is the Denver Veterans Day Festival, which will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at City Park.

It's designed to serve as a celebratory thank you to the veterans who have fought for our country, according to the organization's website.

Denver Veterans Day Run

Denver’s official run for veterans is a memorial 5K and 10K run, open to everyone. Participants have the choice between a 5K walk/run and a 10K walk/run at Denver's City Park.

The 10K run/walk starts at 9 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 9, and the 5K run/walk starts at 9:15 a.m.

Online registration is open and day-of registration will also be available. All proceeds support Colorado veterans through the Colorado Veterans Project.
