Denver weather: Here's how much snow Colorado could see before Thanksgiving

A Winter Weather Advisory is up for the Denver area through 2 p.m., though the heaviest snow will probably fall before 10 a.m. Wednesday.

DENVER — A pre-Thanksgiving snowstorm continues in Colorado's mountains while a burst of snow will move through the Denver metro area Wednesday morning.

A burst of snow will move through the Denver metro area between 6 a.m. and 10 a.m. Wednesday morning, potentially putting down a slushy few inches of accumulation before it mostly dissipates by about noon.

The 9NEWS Weather Impact Team has called for a Weather Impact Day Wednesday morning. A Winter Weather Advisory is up for the Denver area through 2 p.m. Wednesday, although the heaviest snow will probably fall before 10 a.m.

Clouds and light snow continue into the early afternoon in the Denver area before partial clearing later Wednesday afternoon. Highs will be stuck in the mid-30s today, nearly 15 degrees below average.

In Colorado's mountains, snow will come to an end later Wednesday morning, but not before a few more inches of snowfall. Totals there will likely approach 2-3 feet in spot, especially in the state's central mountains where the heaviest snow has mostly fallen from this storm.

Wednesday night will be very cold, with lows dropping into the single digits and below zero in the high country and into the teens across most of Eastern Colorado. Coupled with some melting from Wednesday's snow, we'll likely wake up to an icy Thanksgiving across the metro area, so be extra careful for any turkey trots.

Colorado will enter a quieter weather pattern after Wednesday, with highs climbing into the 40s for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, though we'll have to watch for some wind on Saturday.

Otherwise, it's mainly dry and seasonal. Colorado will likely climb into the 50s next week under mainly sunny skies.

Be careful on the roads Wednesday morning and watch out for ice Wednesday night and Thursday morning as well.
