Denver breaks 132-year-old heat record

Colorado's warm autumn weather pattern continues with highs temperatures way above the average of 75 degrees.

DENVER — It was hot in Denver on Thursday – record-breaking kind of hot.

Denver International Airport reached 93 degrees on Thursday.

The National Weather Service reported that Thursday's high beat the old daily record of 90 degrees set in 1892 and 2010.

The 9NEWS Weather Impact team said the average high temperature for Sept. 26 in Denver is 75 degrees.

Thursday's record-high temperature reading is the eighth-latest 90-degree reading on record in Denver.

Slight relief from the heat is expected on Friday. A weak cool front will drop the high temperature to the low 80s in Denver with a bit of a breeze.

The heat in Colorado isn't going away anytime soon. Temperatures will rise back up to the upper 80s or low 90s on both Saturday and Sunday, close to a daily record each day.

There are no meaningful rain chances in the forecast for the Denver area anytime in the next 10 days. This late-summer pattern is very likely to continue into early autumn.
