Monday will be Weather Impact Day with 1-3" of snow expected along parts of urban corridor

A storm system will bring snow to the mountains Sunday, rain to the urban corridor Sunday night. That rain transitions to snow Monday morning for a slick commute.

DENVER — Winter-like weather arrives for the upcoming week! A storm system moves in over Colorado on Sunday.

Expect moderate snowfall Sunday over the mountains spreading into the foothills overnight.

Sunday evening, the precipitation will be falling as rain across the lower elevations, but it will transition to a rain/snow mix overnight. It looks to transition to all snow in the Denver metro area by about 5:00 a.m. Monday.

We are calling for a Weather Impact Day on Monday with 1-3" forecast to fall in the Denver metro area. The higher amounts look to fall south of downtown. Bottom line, prepare for hazardous travel for that Monday morning commute!

We're not expecting significant snow accumulation through the urban corridor, but look for some slick, snowy conditions on the streets and some light snow on grassy areas. Again, snow totals will increase as you head south on I-25 from downtown Denver.

Models show the snow moving out of the metro area late Monday morning. But the eastern plains could see snow falling into the early afternoon. Of course, we will keep updating the information with the latest model runs.

LATEST FORECAST: Warm and sunny Saturday before rain and snow move in

We get a break in the winter-like weather on Tuesday.

Another storm moves in Wednesday. This one will like be impactful as well. This is a stronger storm, ushering colder temperatures. We will keep monitoring this one as it gets closer, as it looks to to have the potential to produce significant snow both in the mountains and at lower elevations.

Yep! The wintry weather is on its way!
