DENVER — Wildfire smoke will impact several states including Colorado on Tuesday.
Air Quality Alerts have been issued across Colorado, including Douglas, Jefferson, Denver, western Arapahoe, western Adams, Broomfield, Boulder, Larimer, and Weld Counties, until 4 p.m. Tuesday.
As more smoke enters Colorado, it is advised to limit time outdoors, especially for those with heart disease, respiratory illness, the very young and the elderly.
Try and limit that time outdoors, and check real-time air quality here. In general, try and limit that time outside, especially in the high country where you may have a bit more surface smoke.
As a ridge of high pressure nudges in our direction from the west, high temperatures will climb to around 90° in Denver today, right around our seasonal average.
The smoke may improve a tad for Wednesday, but temperatures rise into the mid-90s in Denver. We'll get even hotter for Thursday, with highs soaring into the upper 90s in Denver thanks to that ridge of high pressure anchoring overhead.
By Friday, some Pacific moisture streams in along with a weak system. That'll kick off fairly widespread mountain showers and storms, with a few possible in the metro area as well. It looks similar for Saturday before drier weather moves back in for Sunday and early next week.
- TUESDAY: Mostly sunny, hazy, and mild, high 89.
- WEDNESDAY: Mostly sunny and warmer, high 94.
- THURSDAY: Mostly sunny and hot, high 97.
- FRIDAY: Mostly sunny and hot with isolated afternoon showers and storms, high 95.
