KUSA - A storm packing large hail, wind and heavy rain rolled through parts of the Denver metro area Monday evening.
The storm brought an end to triple-digit temperatures but caused isolated flooding and power outages.
There were reports of tree damage in and around the Arvada area. A video shot by 9NEWS photographer Tom Cole showed large hail and lightning in the area.
There were three inches of hail on the ground in Byers.
A Flash Flood Warning was issued for Arapahoe County and northeastern Elbert County since at least five inches of rain had fallen in the area, according to 9NEWS Chief Meteorologist Kathy Sabine.
Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain along a line extending from near Bennett to near Cottonwood Valley. The storms are moving northeast at 15 mph. At least two inches of rain fell in that area.
The storms started in northern Colorado in Larimer County, moved through Boulder County and then into the Denver area. It followed a day with a high of 100 degrees, which was the hottest temperature of the year.
Tuesday will look and feel different - with highs from 10 to 15 degrees cooler in the mid to upper 80s. Skies will be mostly cloudy and on and off showers are possible through the afternoon and early evening. Wednesday will be back into the 90s with more isolated afternoon storms.
Storms will be in the forecast each afternoon through the weekend.
