29 inches of snow falls at Colorado ski area

January is off to a strong start with a storm gifting 29 inches of fresh powder for skiers and boarders in southwest Colorado.

PAGOSA SPRINGS, Colo. — Wolf Creek Ski Area is officially a winter wonderland after receiving 29 inches of new snow this past weekend.

The southwest Colorado ski area said after a dry December compared to the 2022-2023 ski season, January is off to a great start.

Located near the Colorado towns of Pagosa Springs and South Fork, Wolf Creek Ski Area said Monday that its all-natural midway base is 55 inches. The year-to-date snowfall total is now 113 inches.

The ski area received 21 inches of snow in the last 24 hours and 33 inches over the last seven days.

Wolf Creek Ski Area said all its lifts are operating from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. with 100% of its terrain open.
