KUSA — Temperatures across Colorado will continue to be hot Thursday.
Daytime highs in the Denver metro area will reach the middle to upper 90s.
While mostly dry conditions will continue, there is also a slight chance for thunderstorms, and lightning from those storms could spark more fires.
A red flag warning is in effect for the foothills west of Denver into western Colorado until 8 p.m. Thursday evening.
Fires burning across the state could get some relief by way of rain and cooler weather Saturday and Sunday. However, heavy rain falling on existing burn scars could pose a great threat for flash flooding.
A flash flood watch is in effect for southwest Colorado, as remnants of Tropical Storm Bud make its way into the state producing very heavy rain Saturday afternoon and evening.
According to the National Weather Service in Grand Junction, heavy rainfall over the burn scar from the 416 Wildfire is of particular concern. Residents in the area and along Highway 550 near Hermosa should prepare for flash flooding.
