Where to park, how to get to CU vs. CSU football game

The Regional Transportation District will provide bus and light rail service to and from Sports Authority Field at Mile High on Saturday for the football game between University of Colorado and Colorado State University.
DENVER - AUGUST 30: Quarterback Bradlee Van Pelt #11 of the Colorado State University Rams sprints into the end zone against the University of Colorado Buffaloes during the game at Invesco Field at Mile High on August 30, 2003 in Denver, Colorado. Colorado defeated Colorado State 42-35.

DENVER – As fans descend on Sports Authority Field at Mile High on Saturday for the Rocky Mountain Showdown, Denver Public Works is reminding drivers to have a game plan when it comes to parking.

The Denver Public Works Right of Way Enforcement Agents will enforce posted parking regulations in the area, including surrounding neighborhoods during the game.

Posted signs in the stadium area restrict parking to vehicles with the correct residential parking permit posted in the window from 12 to 9 p.m. on Saturday. Vehicles that park without permits will be cited and towed to a temporary impound lot in Denver at 2000 West 3rd Avenue.

If you are eligible for a residential parking permit, make sure it's current. You can do that here: http://bit.ly/1iVt89r

New this season, is a handicap placard enforcement for all handicap parking lots on-site at Sports Authority Field at Mile High. Anyone parking in these lots will be asked to show proof of their handicap placard registration before they can enter.

If you aren't parking in one of the parking lots on Sports Authority Field at Mile High property, choose only those locations that display a special event parking sign issued by the City and County of Denver or are existing, approved parking lots clearly managed by reputable companies.

The signs display the seal of the City and County of Denver and include the address of the parking location.

The signs were issued because a growing number of illegal parking lots were taking drivers' money, only to have drivers return to their vehicles and find it ticketed or towed.

Use of public transportation to the game is encouraged.

The Regional Transportation District will provide bus and light rail service to and from Sports Authority Field at Mile High on Saturday for the game.

Fans getting to and from the game can use RTD's direct service from several locations in the metro area.

Buses depart from many Park-n-Rides and other locations for the game about two-and-a-half hours before the 5 p.m. kickoff and operate until about one hour before the game starts.

The Federal Shuttle service will run every 20 minutes, from two hours before the game until 10 minutes before the game starts.

Both services resume immediately after the game and run until 45 minutes after the game.

The Federal Shuttle makes stops at Lincoln High School and at bus stops along Federal Boulevard. The Federal Shuttle drop-off and pick-up will be at the South Lot at Sports Authority Field at Mile High.

Special light rail service will also be available on game day.

The C, E and W rail lines stop at the Sports Authority Field at Mile High Station, with the W line also stopping at Decatur-Federal Station. Fans can take the D or H lines and transfer to the C or E lines at 1-25 and Broadway, Alameda or 10th and Osage stations.

Regular one-way light rail fares apply. To save time, fans can purchase a special 12-hour special event pass at the ticket vending machines at light rail stations.

Parking at Decatur-Federal Station will not be available to RTD patrons between 1 and 11:30 a.m. on game day, as the lot will be a pay lot for the event. Unauthorized vehicles may be towed at the owner's expense.

Round-trip fares range from $4.50 to $10, depending on where travelers begin their trip.

Passengers pay exact cash as they board, or they can use Special Service Free Ride coupons.

RTD passes, tickets and transfers will not be accepted.
