KUSA – One of Aspen’s grocery stores, City Market was faced with near empty shelves earlier this week after the back to back rock slides on Interstate 70.
The grocery store’s main produce truck was unable to make its delivery Monday night with the massive traffic jam. This left the store with very little food for Tuesday.
When it was clear the truck would not reach its final destination, another food truck was dispatched from Denver and took an alternate route, according to a City Market spokesperson.
The second truck arrived yesterday night and re-supplied the grocery store. The delivery trucks will continue using new routes and should have no problem keeping the stores full.
“There are alternate routes,” City Market spokesperson Kelli McGannon said. “We've planned accordingly, so trucks are leaving earlier, that kind of thing so we're still hitting our delivery windows.”
City Market employees said this was the only store effected.
