DELTA, Colo. — A pilot was found dead in what officials called a possible homemade plane that crashed at Blake Airfield in Delta on Sunday, according to Delta County Sheriff's Office (DCSO).
DCSO said authorities responded around 11:12 a.m. after the Delta County Communications Center received multiple reports of a small plane that crashed while trying to land.

Responding authorities located the wreckage of a small, single-occupant plane that was possibly homemade off the east end of the runway, DCSO said.
The pilot was deceased when emergency crews arrived, according to DCSO.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) will begin their investigations on Monday.
The Delta County Coroner's Office is notifying next of kin, DCSO said.
The Delta Police Department, Delta Fire Department, Delta County Ambulance Division and CareFlight of the Rockies all responded to the scene, along with DCSO.
