GOLDEN, Colo. — Eastbound Interstate 70 was closed for a while Thursday afternoon after a truck caught on fire near Colorado Mills Parkway, according to the Colorado Department of Transportation.
CDOT said I-70 was closed due to a stalled vehicle in the area. Sky9 showed a stalled semi-truck. A 9NEWS viewer sent a photo of the semi with smoke coming out of it and flames underneath.
The highway closure was between Exit 263, Colorado Mills Parkway, and Exit 264, 32nd Avenue. As of 5:10 p.m., only the right lane of I-70 eastbound was still closed.
Lakewood Police said a truck caught on fire after riding the brakes too hard while driving on I-70 out of the foothills.
The COtrip website says there is an expected 27-minute delay in traffic.
