Denver International Airport extends popular program at West Security checkpoint

Before you were only able to secure a spot three days in advance, but DIA has extended that timeframe to 14 days at West Security checkpoint.

DENVER — During Labor Day travel, between August 29 through September 3, more than 444,500 passengers are forecasted to travel through Denver International Airport security checkpoints.

This forecast represents a 5.1% increase compared to the number of passengers who moved through DIA's security checkpoints during the same period in 2023.

To help passengers go through security much quicker, DIA is expanding its DEN Reserve program. DEN Reserve is an appointment-based reservation system for security screening.

”It’s kind of like an amusement park fast pass. Anything that can sort of help that process and get you through even a little bit quicker – I think it’s welcome news to a lot of people," said DIA spokesperson, Michael Konopasek.

The pilot program launched last year for Bridge Security, as a free service that allowed passengers to reserve a dedicated time slot. Airport officials say the program surpassed expectation with nearly 100% of reservations windows booked every day and more than 4,900 bookings.

In the past, travelers were only able to secure a spot three days in advance, but DIA has now extended that timeframe to 14 days for West security checkpoint only. Additionally, groups with as many as 30 people can now use the reservation system.

Passengers will be able to reserve a time for free, with no account or membership required. The goal is to expedite the security process.

Appointment times can be scheduled for one to four hours before your flight’s departure. Slots are limited and may fill up fast, so airport officials recommend booking early.

To make a reservation with DEN Reserve, travelers must enter their flight details and the number of people in their traveling party to view available times. Once they arrive to the airport, travelers should head to West TSA Security Checkpoint located on level 6, just north of the United Airlines ticket counters.

DIA joined 17 other airport locations across the U.S., Canada and Europe that offer the appointment-based system.
