DENVER — After purchasing more than 100 acres near Denver International Airport last summer, Chicago-based United Airlines (Nasdaq: UAL)  has revealed more details about what it plans to do with the land.

ZGF Architects, on behalf of United Airlines, submitted a pre-application for a large development review to the City and County of Denver for a new flight training center campus. The priority for the site will be to build 12 flight simulators and their “required training and support facilities.”

The airline wants this part of the campus to be open by the fall of 2027.

During the first phase of construction, United is proposing one flight simulator building with 12 new flight simulators and a central utility plant, both located at the intersection of 64th Avenue and Yampa Street.

That first phase of construction is likely to extend to even more training and other facilities. In addition to the Flight Training Center, “United is actively investigating programmatic needs to support corporate campus activity accommodating about 5,000 employees in future phases of the project,” plans read.
