DENVER — The plane that brought President Joe Biden to Colorado on Tuesday remains in the Centennial State.
The Boeing 747 Air Force One on which Biden arrived Tuesday evening was still at Denver International Airport on Thursday morning, according to photos shared with 9NEWS.
According to Reuters' White House Correspondent Jeff Mason, a maintenance issue was discovered on the large version of Air Force One, so one of the White House's smaller planes was also deployed to Colorado.
After Biden spent Tuesday night in downtown Denver, he flew to Pueblo on another Air Force One, a Boeing 757 version, on Wednesday.
Denver International Airport shared a photo Wednesday of two Boeing 757 Air Force One planes in Denver.
9NEWS has reached out to the White House for comment but has not heard back.
In March, the U.S. Air Force unveiled the newest design for the "Next Air Force One" planes.
Formally known as the VC-25B, the new aircrafts are estimated to replace the older VC-25A planes. The first of the VC-25B is set to be delivered by 2027, with a second aircraft being finished by 2028.
According to the Air Force, the new generation of aircrafts will have electrical power upgrades, a mission communication system, a medical facility, a self-defense system and other modifications.
In June 2022, the Biden administration nixed Trump's order to replace the iconic Kennedy-era robin's egg blue and white design with a deeper navy and a streak of dark red. Another change is that the next generation aircrafts won't have a polished metal section because modern commercial plane skin alloys don't allow it, the U.S. Air Force said.
