DENVER — Denver Police are investigating a crash on Interstate 70 that killed a person and injured three more Sunday morning.
Police tweeted at 3:16 a.m. that officers were on the scene of the crash on the eastbound lanes of I-70 at Interstate 225.
One victim was pronounced dead at the scene, and the others were taken to the hospital, police said. Police did not say how many cars were involved.
Police said Sunday evening that the person who died was a pedestrian. They said it's unclear why he was walking on the interstate.
The driver who hit him stayed on the scene and was arrested on suspicion of vehicular homicide and DUI, police said.
Eastbound I-70 was closed at Peoria Street while officers investigated. Alternate routes were advised. Around 7 a.m., CDOT cameras showed the interstate had reopened.
