Eastbound Interstate 70 reopens after fatal crash

The crash happened around 6:30 a.m. and caused a closure of all eastbound lanes of the interstate between the Morrison exit and U.S. 6.

GOLDEN, Colo. — The eastbound lanes of Interstate 70 reopened Wednesday morning after a fatal crash.

The Golden Police Department (GPD) said the accident on I-70 involved a single motorcyclist who struck an unoccupied parked car on the shoulder. The crash closed eastbound lanes of I-70 in Golden at about 6:30 a.m. Wednesday.

One person died in the incident. No other cars or people were involved, according to GPD.

The eastbound lanes of I-70 reopened around 10:46 a.m., according to the Colorado Department of Transportation.

Eastbound I-70 was closed between Exit 259 (Morrison) and Mile Point 261 (6th Avenue), according to the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT).
