DENVER — A portion of Speer Boulevard in downtown Denver will be closed for one day later this month.
Denver’s Department of Transportation and Infrastructure said that northbound Speer Boulevard between Lawrence Street and Market Street will be closed from 3 a.m. until 11 p.m. on Monday, February 20.
During the closure, crews will be placing girders for a new bridge that is being constructed on Larimer Street over Cherry Creek. It's part of a project to make Larimer Street more accessible.
Along with replacing the bridge, the department said they will be adding a two-way protected bikeway, 12-foot-wide sidewalks, pedestrian lighting, more seating options, public art and trees on Larimer Street between 15th Street and Speed Boulevard. The project should be finished this fall.
Anyone who is driving northbound on Speer Boulevard during the closure will be detoured into downtown via Lawrence Street.
