A few days ahead of the new Civic Center Station opening to the public on Dec. 17, the Regional Transportation District offered a sneak peek of the renovated station on Tuesday.
The station has been closed for a $31 million renovation since July 2016. While Civic Center Station has been closed, the mall shuttle has been stopping on Broadway to pick up and drop off passengers.
The bright, open, renovated facility replaces one that looked and felt like a bunker. It opened to the 16th Street Mall shuttles Nov. 12.
Inside the station, in an area that was once home to concrete structures, the new station has lots of glass and open sight lines.
