Over 3,000 lose power after car wreck

Some Broomfield and Westminster residents lost power after a car crashed into a transformer Monday morning.

Some Broomfield and Westminster residents lost power after a car crashed into a transformer Monday morning.

According to North Metro Fire, the wreck happened on 120th Avenue near Lamar Street.

The driver was taken to the hospital. Broomfield Police believe she may have suffered a medical issue before the crash. Her condition is not known.

Her baby in the backseat of the car was not injured.

According to Xcel Energy, 3,161 people lost power due to the crash. It is expected to be restored around 10:45 a.m.

Several traffic signals were out for a brief time, but have since been restored.
