Southbound I-225 reopens after accident near 17th Place

All southbound lanes of I-225 were closed due to a 3-vehicle crash at 17th Place.

AURORA, Colo. — Just before 7 a.m., all southbound lanes of Interstate 225 reopened after a three-vehicle crash.

At about 6 a.m., Aurora Police Department (APD) said all lanes of of southbound I-225 were closed at 17th Place, just north of Colfax Avenue, due to the crash.

Traffic was being diverted onto the 17th Place exit where motorists can immediately get back onto the interstate from there. 

APD reported multiple injures from this crash.

"We appreciate your patience while we investigate and work to open up the lanes as quickly and safely as possible," APD said.

Video from SKY9 showed debris covering all southbound lanes of the interstate following the crash.

This is a developing story and will be updated as soon as we learn more.
