JEFFERSON COUNTY, Colo. — A semi-truck hauling a trailer on a flat bed struck a bridge on Interstate 70 on Friday morning, causing the closure of westbound lanes for several hours.
According to a tweet from Colorado State Patrol (CSP), all westbound lanes were closed just after 11 a.m. The interstate fully reopened at 4:20 p.m., after the Colorado Department of Transportation was on scene evaluating the bridge.
A CSP spokesperson said no injuries were reported in the crash.
CDOT inspectors assessed the bridge and found damage on its outside edge. They determined westbound lanes could reopen until permanent repairs are made.
A shoulder and a lane will be closed on the westbound C-470 bridge over I-70 to keep the weight of vehicles off the damaged area until repairs can be made, and the eastbound ramp from I-70 to C-470 will remain closed.
Earlier on Friday, traffic was being diverted onto eastbound C-470, CSP said. Troopers said the best route to get around the closure is by taking Colorado Highway 58 to US 6, and then get on US 40 through Golden.
Crews from Golden Police and the Colorado Department of Transportation responded to the scene.
