CENTENNIAL - A spokeswoman for IKEA told 9NEWS Friday that the structure of the sign that was blown around in Thursday's high winds has always been sound.

Spokeswoman Megan Thompson says an employee noticed two panels on the large sign that is posted near Interstate 25 were loose. South Metro Fire came out to fix the panels.

Thompson said IKEA apologizes to the drivers on I-25 and light rail passengers that were affected by the over two-hour closure between Dry Creek and County Lines roads that resulted from the incident.
