1 dead after head-on crash on Airport Blvd in Aurora

A Mitsubishi sedan was traveling southbound in the northbound lanes of North Airport Boulevard when it collided head-on with a Ford F-150, Aurora Police said.

AURORA, Colo. — One person is dead after a head-on crash Sunday afternoon in the area of East 22nd Avenue and North Airport Boulevard.

Aurora Police and Fire Rescue responded to the crash about 12:30 p.m., the Aurora Police Department (APD) said.

An initial investigation reveals that a Mitsubishi sedan was traveling southbound in the northbound lanes of North Airport Boulevard when it collided head-on with a Ford F-150 that was going northbound, APD said.

Both the Mitsubishi sedan and Ford F-150 had one man inside. The driver of the F-150 was transported to an area hospital where he was treated and released, APD said. The driver of the sedan was pronounced deceased after being transported to an area hospital.

APD said it does not appear that speed or alcohol was a factor for the driver of the Ford F-150. Those determinations for the Mitsubishi driver are still being investigated.

The Adams County coroner identified the man killed as 31-year-old Chase Moore.

Anyone who may have witnessed the crash, has dashcam footage or has any information about this incident, is asked to contact the Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867 or reach out to the Aurora Police Department Traffic Unit at 303-739-6423.
