Driver arrested after crash that killed woman

AURORA, Colo. — A man has been arrested after a deadly crash in Aurora. 

The Aurora Police Department said just before 4 p.m. Monday, officers responded to a report of a crash at East Smoky Hill Road and South Riviera Way. 

Police said a man was driving a Ford F-150 north on East Smoky Hill Road when the truck went off the right side of the road and crashed into a tree.

A 46-year-old woman riding in the truck was ejected during the crash, police said. She was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. 

She died early Wednesday morning, according to police. She will be identified by the Arapahoe County Coroner's Office.

Police said the driver, 45-year-old James Cooke, was arrested on charges of vehicular homicide and driving under the influence. 

It was the 19th traffic-related death in Aurora this year, according to police.
