LOVELAND, Colo. — Interstate 70 was closed between the Loveland Pass and Silverthorne exits due to safety concerns on Sunday afternoon, according to the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT).
CDOT said on Twitter at 1:01 p.m. that both directions of the interstate were closed due to safety concerns. The closure occurred between exit 203 CO9; East Frisco, Silverthorne and Exit 216 US 6; Loveland Pass, one mile east of the Eisenhower Tunnel, according to CDOT.
Travelers could use Highway 6 over Loveland Pass as a detour around the closure, according to CDOT.
Both directions of the interstate reopened around 2:30 p.m., according to CDOT.
