DENVER — A woman has died after being hit by a vehicle while riding a bicycle in Denver Wednesday.
According to a probable cause statement from Denver police, 51-year-old David Anton was driving his work vehicle northbound on South Marion Street just before 4 p.m. and tried to make a right turn onto East Bayaud Avenue. He failed to yield the right of way to a bicyclist traveling through the intersection in a designated bike lane, the statement says.
Police said the bicyclist, 37-year-old Alexis Bounds, later died from her injuries at a hospital.
Anton was cited for careless driving resulting in death, police said in a tweet.
