Overall traffic congestion in Denver in 2015 improved just a little bit from the previous year, according to a new study.

Amsterdam-based navigation and mapping company TomTom reported that Denver's traffic congestion level declined 1 percent last year, although drivers can expect to spend 21 percent more time during heavy traffic periods, compared to when roads are not congested.

Denver ranks 113th of the 174 largest cities in the world for traffic congestion. Mexico City is the world's most-congested city when it comes to traffic and Los Angeles is the worst in the U.S., according to TomTom.
