CLEAR CREEK COUNTY, Colo. —
Colorado State Patrol said earlier that there was no alternate routes and drivers should "just stay home" after two rock slides happened on westbound Interstate 70 near Idaho Springs Tuesday morning.
I-70 westbound has since reopened at Exit 248 - Beaver Creek, Floyd Hill.
The slides came amid nearly record snow for November in parts of Colorado — a storm that closed roads throughout the state.
The first rock slide occurred near Idaho Springs on the westbound side of the highway.
9NEWS reporter Matt Renoux was in the area where the slide occurred; he said there were rocks the size of small cars being cleared from the roadway.
It’s unclear if anyone was injured in this rock slide or the one reported minutes later near Floyd Hill.
CDOT referred to it as a “major rock slide.”
