Thursday night train crash in Boulder injures 2

All roads near the crash reopened Friday morning, according to police.

BOULDER, Colo. — Two conductors were injured in a train crash in Boulder Thursday night.

Boulder Police first posted about the crash on the social platform X around 10:43 p.m. According to police, a Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF) train was traveling south from Valmont Road to Pearl Parkway when it crashed into some train cars on the track, derailing some cars.

Two conductors who were on board at the time were taken to the hospital with minor injuries and have since been released, BNSF said.

In an update, police said the crash happened north of Boulder Community Hospital.

Xcel is on scene, working on a power line that was damaged in the crash, police said.

BNSF said a small amount of fuel did leak from the train, but did not impact the creek.

Mainline operations were restored Saturday, and also of Monday BNSF said crews were remaining on site working to completely clear the crash scene.

BNSF is investigating the crash.
