BOULDER, Colo. — A driver stayed on scene after a fatal crash with a pedestrian on Friday morning on northbound Broadway in Boulder, according to police.
The crash happened just before 5 a.m. north of the intersection of Broadway and Rayleigh Road. That's next to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and National Weather Service (NWS) in Boulder.
A 27-year-old man driving a 2004 Honda Accord was going north on Broadway when he struck a woman north of the crosswalk.
The 38-year-old woman who was hit was pronounced dead on the scene, police said. On Monday, the Boulder Coroner's Office identified the woman as Jennifer Newman.
The driver stayed on the scene and cooperated with the investigation. There were no indications that speed or impairment were factors in the crash, police said.
Northbound Broadway — or State Highway 93 — was closed at Ash Avenue, heading toward the University of Colorado campus, for several hours for the investigation Friday morning. The roadway reopened around 10:30 a.m.
