AURORA, Colo. — A 57-year-old woman was hit and killed while crossing a heavily traveled road late Sunday.
The Aurora Police Department (APD) said their preliminary investigation shows that about 10:15 p.m., the woman was running across South Parker Road at East Dartmouth Avenue when a 2016 Chevy Suburban struck her. That area is less than a mile from where South Parker Road intersects with Interstate 225.
The driver of the Chevy, a 67-year-old man, called 911 and remained on scene, police said. He has cooperated with the investigation, according to police.
Passersby were performing CPR on the woman when officers arrived. The woman was loaded into an ambulance and rushed to a hospital. She later died from her injuries, APD said.
Police said alcohol, drugs and speed do not appear to be factors in the crash.
This is Aurora's 60th traffic-related death so far in 2023.
The Arapahoe County Coroner's Office will release the woman's identity at a later time.
