Broomfield’s Renewable Energy Systems (RES), a wind and renewable energy developer, is teaming with Goldwind Americas to build the 160-megawatt Rattlesnake Wind Project in McCulloch County, Texas.

Goldwind, a subsidiary of Chinese wind turbine manufacturer Xinjiang Goldwind Science & Technology Co. Ltd, bought the Rattlesnake wind farm project from RES in May 2016. When completed the Rattlesnake wind farm will be Goldwind’s biggest U.S. wind farm so far.

The project has received a notice of intent to proceed on construction. When complete, the wind farm, located 125 miles northwest of Austin, will be capable of supporting the power demands of 48,000 homes.

It's RES’ 18th wind farm in Texas, and the first built with Goldwind. RES is building the bulk of the wind farm, with Goldwind supplying 64 of its 2.5 megawatt turbines, which use the company’s “Permanent Magnet Direct-Drive” technology.
