CENTENNIAL, Colo. — Metro Denver motorists caught a glimpse of some unusual cargo on Saturday.
According to the Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office, a SpaceX rocket was being transported through Centennial.
The sheriff's office said five of their patrol units escorted the 190-foot rocket through their jurisdiction. One of their sergeants, who was working patrol, captured video of it as it headed north on South University Boulevard.
The rocket was so big, workers had to manually steer the rear axle so it could pivot to make the turns. They even had to lift the streetlight cables at one point so the rocket could pass through, according to the sheriff's office.
The Falcon 9 rocket was heading to a permanent display next to the Dish Network building in Littleton, according to the city.
Founded by Elon Musk in 2002, SpaceX was the first private company to successfully launch and return a spacecraft after orbiting Earth.
