Cody Rhodes talks WrestleMania 40, his involvement with Make-A-Wish

"I really am the luckiest guy in that locker room."

ATLANTA — WWE Superstar Cody Rhodes, a metro Atlanta native and former high school state wrestling champion at Lassiter High School, is getting ready to main event both nights of WrestleMania 40.

The two-night event takes place April 6 and April 7 in Philadelphia.

Rhodes talked with 11Alive about his involvement with Make-A-Wish America. The organization has granted hundreds of thousands of wishes for children with critical illnesses.

"You get the chance to have a wish with a child and be able to engage with their family, and they can follow me, and I can follow their journey," he said. "That's the most real thing we can possibly do. It's such an honor."

Rhodes also talked about his emotional journey from leaving WWE in 2016 to his return as a WrestleMania headliner.

"I really am the luckiest guy in that locker room," he said. "We work really hard, no doubt."
