COMMERCE CITY, Colo. — Alex Gersbach is the newest member of the Colorado Rapids.
The Rapids signed the defender from Ligue 2 side Grenoble Foot 38 on a three-year deal with a club option for an additional year, the club announced Monday.
The deal with Gersbach is pending completion of his medical and receipt of his International Transfer Certificate (ITC) and P-1 Visa, the Rapids said.
Gersbach, 25, has spent most of his career in Europe, most recently in France’s Ligue 2 with Grenoble. The fullback spent two seasons with GF38, logging 45 appearances.
"We’re delighted to continue reinforcing our roster with a player like Alex," Colorado Rapids Executive VP & General Manager Pádraig Smith said. "Alex is a technical fullback who brings a high level of energy and ability to consistently get up and down the flank. We look forward to welcoming him to Colorado and incorporating him into our group."
Gersbach has represented Australia five times, including appearances in an AFC World Cup Qualifier and the Confederations Cup in 2017.
