Staff at Copper Mountain will soon wind down a busy ski season only to begin work on several multi-million dollar improvements to the ski area.
"It’s going to keep everyone hopping,” Copper Mountain President Gary Rogers aid. “This summer will be one of our busiest capital project summers on record.”
There are typical projects like replacing the old Kokomo Lift in the west village with a high speed detachable quad life.
Copper spokesperson Taylor Prather is converting current lifts with RF-ID scanning systems while focusing more on their summer business.
"We’re really trying to be a great year-round destination," Prather said.
That means putting up an obstacle course for all ages.
"The Woodward Rectangle is our version of a Ninja course but Woodward-ized," Rogers said.
The ski area is also building the longest alpine coaster in North America running 5,800 feet.
All of the work is expected to be finished by the summer or fall.
