COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — The ProRodeo Hall of Fame has unveiled the new class of inductees that will be enshrined in Colorado Springs on Saturday, Aug. 3.
Commotion, one of the greatest bucking horses of all time, highlights the star-studded 12-member class.
The rest of the 2019 ProRodeo Hall of Fame consists of stock contractors, bull riders, bareback rider, barrel racers and more.
2019 ProRodeo Hall of Fame Class:
- Commotion, bucking horse
- Elra Beutler and his son, Jiggs, stock contractors
- Allen Bach, four-time world champion team roping heeler
- Dean Gorsuch, two-time world champion steer wrestler
- Doug “Droopy” Brown, world champion bull rider
- Larry Peabody, world champion bareback rider
- Jerome Robinson, notable
- Cody (Wyo.) Stampede Rodeo, committee
- Tommy Lucia, contract personnel
- Jimmie Munroe, barrel racer
- Sammy Thurman Brackenberry, barrel racer
- Florence Youree, notable
Commotion, a 1,300-pound bay stallion, won Bareback Riding Horse of the Year awards in 1998, 1999 and 2000.
“I think this is great,” said stock contractor Bennie Beutler. “With Commotion, he either bucked them off or they would win first on him. He was one of the horses who liked to buck, and he never had a bad day.”
Commotion passed away in Sept. 2016 at the age of 25.
In addition to the inductees, Guy Elliott will receive the Ken Stemler Pioneer Award, which honors individuals in recognition of their groundbreaking, innovative ideas and forward thinking. Elliott is a former arena director for the National Western Stock Show and Rodeo in Denver.
