IDAHO SPRINGS, Colo. — A man has died after a fall at St. Mary's Glacier Thursday afternoon.
Alpine Rescue Team said crews were called out to a location on the west side of the lake at St. Mary's Glacier on a report of a stranded party at around 2:20 p.m. Thursday.
When they learned that the person had fallen and possibly had critical injuries, they upgraded their mission to an emergency response and called for a Flight for Life helicopter.
When they arrived at the scene, they found a man who had died. A spokesperson for Alpine Rescue Team said he may have been on a ridge above the lake and lost his footing, then fell about 300 feet down a slope.
