ESTES PARK, Colo. — With summer almost here, Rocky Mountain National Park (RMNP) just announced their Hiker Shuttle buses will be running starting next month.
The Hiker Shuttle will start running on May 27 and will go through September 4. Shuttles will run seven days a week throughout the peak visitor season. Operation of the shuttle will continue for another month starting September 9 through October 22, however, this shuttle will only run on Saturdays and Sundays.
The shuttle departs the Estes Park Visitors Center and goes to RMNP's Park and Ride Transit Hub, which is located on Bear Lake Road. From there, riders can transfer either to the Bear Lake or Moraine Park shuttles to reach destinations along the Bear Lake Road Corridor.
The first Hiker Shuttle leaves the Estes Park Visitors Center at 9 a.m. and the last shuttle leaving the Park & Ride departs at 6 p.m. The Moraine Park shuttle operates every 60 minutes from 7 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. and the Bear Lake route operates every 10-15 minutes from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Those interested in riding on the Hiker Shuttle must book a reservation in advance and hold a valid park entrance pass for RMNP. There is a $2 processing fee for each reservation. However, one reservation will be able to cover up to 4 tickets for a group.
To reserve a Hiker Shuttle ticket, riders must go to Recreation.gov beginning on May 1 at 8 a.m. for dates between May 26 and June 30. Tickets for July 1-31 will be released on June 1 at 8 a.m.
