COLORADO, USA — The U.S. Forest Service and Colorado Parks and Wildlife want to make Sweetwater Lake Colorado's 43rd state park, but there's no contract yet.
Sweetwater is about three hours west of Denver, near Eagle and Garfield counties. Colorado Politics reports some people who live in the area are worried that a state park designation would bring more traffic and trash, and said they want to protect the natural landscape and wildlife habitats.
The Forest Service is gathering feedback before launching a review under the National Environmental Policy Act, which would consider those ideas as part of a broad analysis of the nearly 500 acres.
The Forest Service promises a lot of public comment opportunities during the process, starting with an online survey that's available now.
