LARIMER COUNTY, Colo. — A body was pulled from the Poudre River near Poudre Park on Tuesday afternoon, marking the second confirmed death on the river this summer.
The body has been identified by the Larimer County Coroner's Office as David L. Smith. It was found by a kayaker about 2:40 p.m. Tuesday near mile marker 112 on Colorado Highway 14, about four miles downstream of where a missing rafter was last seen more than three weeks ago.
Smith was with two others when their raft capsized near mile markers 107 and 108. The others, a 46-year-old man and his 13-year-old son, were rescued by a rafting guide from Mountain Whitewater, a Fort Collins-based commercial rafting company.
