PARIS, France — Anna Hall, of Greenwood Village, starts her quest for Olympic gold in the heptathlon, while Team USA and Serbia face off in the semifinals of men's basketball.
Here are the Colorado athletes to cheer on Thursday at the 2024 Summer Olympic Games in Paris.
Basketball
In the men’s basketball semifinals, Team USA plays Serbia.
Derrick White, from Parker, plays on the U.S. team, and Denver Nuggets star Nikola Jokic plays for his native Serbia.
This is Jokic’s second Olympics. In the 2016 Rio Games, he led Serbia to a silver medal, coming in second to Team USA.
White played three seasons at the University of Colorado-Colorado Springs and one season at the University of Colorado Boulder. He now plays for the Boston Celtics. This is his first Olympics.
The bronze medal and gold medal games are on Saturday.

Cycling
Grant Koontz, who’s originally from Houston and currently lives in Nederland, is competing in the omnium – a multiple-race event in track cycling. He played mostly ball sports growing up but, he said, wasn’t tall enough to be competitive, so started focusing on cycling.
This will be his first Olympics.

Sport climbing
Brooke Raboutou and Natalia Grossman will compete Thursday in the women’s combined in sport climbing.
Grossman, of Santa Cruz, California, went to the University of Colorado Boulder. She now lives in Salt Lake City. She started climbing at 6 years old. She won gold at the Pan American Games in Santiago in 2023, which qualified her for the Olympics.
Raboutou, of Boulder, went to Fairview High School. Both of Brooke’s parents are world champion climbers, and her brother is also a professional climber. This will be her second Olympics. She came in 5th in Tokyo. She was the first American climber to ever qualify for the Olympics.

Track and field
Anna Hall, of Greenwood Village, is competing in the heptathlon.
During Olympic Trials in 2021, Hall crashed into a hurdle and broke her foot, so she missed out on the Tokyo Olympics. She came in first in the heptathlon in Olympic Trials this year. She attended Valor Christian High School and currently lives in Gainesville, Florida.
The heptathlon starts Thursday with four events and concludes on Friday with another four events.

Volleyball
The U.S. women’s volleyball team plays in the semifinals against Brazil on Thursday. Two players with Colorado ties are on the roster: Haleigh Washington and Jordyn Poulter.
Washington, of Colorado Springs, led Doherty High School to the state title in 2012 and Penn State to the NCAA Division I title in 2014. She started her professional career in Italy in 2018 and is now on the U.S. Women’s National Team. This is her second Olympics. She was named the best middle blocker in Tokyo.
Poulter went to Eaglecrest High School in Aurora. She has competed in every major tournament for the United States. This is her second Olympics, and she was named best setter at the Tokyo Olympics. In her free time, she is an aspiring filmmaker and plays the piano and guitar.

Wrestling
Spencer Lee, who was born in Denver, is a three-time NCAA wrestling champion. His hometown is Murrysville, Pennsylvania, and he went to the University of Iowa. His parents were both judokas, and his mother Cathy was an Olympic alternative for judo for France, according to Team USA.
After the round of 16, the quarter finals are at 4:10 a.m. MT and the semifinals at 10:15 a.m. MT Thursday.
