USA Boxing hosting fantasy camp for people to train like Olympians

USA Boxing will host a four-day Fantasy Camp after the 2024 Olympics to show people what it’s like to workout and train like an Olympic Boxer.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Athletes are on their way to Paris for the 2024 Olympics and Team USA Boxers are also planning a four-day Fantasy Camp at the United States Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs that will let people see what it takes to train like an Olympian.

Executive Director and CEO of USA Boxing Mike McAtee says that Fantasy Camp will give people a chance to see what a day in the life of an Olympic boxer is like.

“What it’s like to crawl between the ropes and be in a boxing event,” said McAtee. “To be able to train here at our gym in the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs.”

The camp will last four days with days starting at 6 AM and lasting into the afternoon mixing strength training with boxing and nutrition sessions,

“They will be drinking from a firehose,” said McAtee. “We will give people an opportunity to see what an Olympian will go through even though they will only experience 4 days and our boxers in Paris have been boxing since they were 8 years old.”

Sessions will start with the basics of how to throw a punch and do it on the move, then people will move to the punching bags and eventually get into the ring for light sparing.

That Fantasy Camp will be after the Olympics from September 26 through the 29 and people can sign up on USA Boxing's website.
